Ever wondered which country has maximum no. of Facebook users, well the answer is probably US but I have no idea if it actually is. Orkut has dominated India, and none of the major social media services (Facebook,Myspace and Orkut ) have strong foothold in China, and US and Europe are dominated by Facebook. Most Facebook users must be from US.
Let me not go into that in detail where I lack the actual numbers. But I do have something interesting to share with you here. See the below graph taken from Google Trends today.

The graph shows the tremendrous growth of search volume for the keyword “Facebook”. This is evident from the fact that Facebook has become the largest Social Media service surpassing MySpace recently and it is believed to have 225+ million users globally.

Well this surprising. Did you guess that most searches for Facebook has come Turkey. A country with population of around 71m and per capital GDP of around 10k USD, has come to emerge as the largest searcher for Facebook! WOW!Now go more in detail.

Turkish is the language in which people have searched “Facebook” the most, that too followed by Croatian and Italian.

Now let us quickly think about the possible reasons. Well it could be because most net savvy people in US and UK already know about Facebook and are using it; Chinese and Japanese don’t care about it. And Indians like it and are happy with Orkut.
