Even with the amount of popularity Twitter received, it was always uncertain on how the microblogging site was planning to make money. Twitter had a phenomenal growth in just a few months and has a user base of millions. The recent report from Business Week stated that Twitter has finally become profitable.

Twitter had earlier got into a deal with Google and Microsoft for making its content searchable by their search engines. The figures that remained disclosed then were apparently worth $25 million.

The startup which had not made a single penny so far and had never commented on how they were planning to make money has turned profitable by signing the data mining deal. The tweets or microblogs that would be open to Google search and Bing search now fetched Twitter $15 million from Google and $10 from Microsoft.

Not only has the deal got real time search more available and faster but also got Twitter an entirely new line of market to focus on.
