There is no doubt that Twitter has been growing at a very fast rate but has the rate been consistent over the period of time has been a concern raised by many. Twitter saw a huge growth in 2009 but as the growth started tapering down by the end of the year. Even though Twitter continues to enjoy a high user base and lot of tweets, there is a disparity among Twitter users in terms of usage.
According to a report published by Hubspot, all is not well in Twittersphere. The report brought some very interesting points out. Some of the characteristics as published on the paper are:
- 82% of Twitter users have less than 100 followers
- 81% of Twitter users are following less than 100 people
- Thursday and Friday are the most active days on Twitter, each accounting for 16% of total tweets in our study.
- 10-11 pm is the most active hour on Twitter, accounting for 4.8% of the tweets in an average day.
